Twenty Ten.

Happy Holidays from snowy Toronto.

I hope that this Christmas post finds you well, enjoying the holiday season. As always, I recommend you grab a hot chocolate or beer, cozy up next to the fire and enjoy my recap on 2010.

It was a year focused on friends and family, and for the first time in three years, I spent the full year living on Canadian soil.

The year started off with a holiday break in Edmonton, where I got to spend time with Mom, Doug, sister Nicole, brother-in-law Cory, my niece Kaylee & nephew Cole. After a short stint at work back in Toronto, I was back in Alberta for Rhett and Tammy’s wedding in Claresholm, followed by a surprise appearance at Nicole’s birthday party in Edmonton.

A family trip to Palm Springs (or “Palm Prings” as Kaylee likes to call it) in March, was a great way to relax, unwind and play some golf. I also got my first taste of babysitting the little ones and yes, it was an adventure for Uncle John!

The summer was also full of exciting trips with friends and family. In May, two of my close friends Marianela and Miguel spent a weekend with me in Montreal, touring the city and enjoying the tam-tam’s in Parc du Mont Royal. In July, I also made two trips out west for a Gare reunion in Vernon and Rob & Laura’s wedding reception in Spokane, were I got to re-connect with relatives on both sides of the family.

I continue to work as Assistant Brand Manager on Budweiser at Labatt in Toronto. A highlight this year, was getting to lead the promotions for Bud Camp and Calgary Stampede. When not working, my free time is split between volunteering as a dog walker at the Toronto Humane Society, keeping up on the guitar and testing my photography skills.

The fall was exciting, as Mom made two separate trips to Toronto and also brought Doug with her the second time. Doug and I had a great time in Toronto, going to a Raptors game and enjoying a couple ‘guys nights out’. In September, a good friend of mine, Assem and I decided to road-trip to Chicago. In under 48 hours, we had rented a car, travelled +700 kilometers, toured Chicago and were back in time for work on Monday.

Nicole and Cory, also organized a surprise trip for me out to Edmonton in October to surprise Mom and Doug for a Thanksgiving get together. The timing couldn’t have been better, as I also got to meet Mason, Rhett and Tammy’s newborn son.

Then in November, Dad, Debbie and Brooke were great hosts as I celebrated US Thanksgiving with the Kelly side of the family in Boise, Idaho. I’m back in Toronto this month, but am quickly counting down the days to spend my Christmas holidays in sunny Mazatlan with family.

Enjoy the holiday season, please keep in touch, and I wish you and your family all the best in 2011.
